CO-PRODUCTION MARKET DOCUMENTARY

For this edition of Film Bazaar, the Co-Production Market has introduced a section for documentary alongside its existing feature section. The aim is to foster connections between filmmakers with unique documentary ideas and international producers, content buyers & platforms, sales agents, and financiers.

The Co-Production Market serves as a platform to find commissioning, financing, and co-producing partners. Its primary objective is to facilitate, encourage, and provide access to opportunities that showcase genuine and compelling stories on an international scale.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Regardless of the final language of your project, all the submission requirements should be in English only. 

ELIGIBILITY
  • Only Documentary projects with South Asian themes are eligible. Else, the filmmaker or at least one of the Co-Producers of the film should be from India / South Asia.
  • The Co-Production Market Documentary is open to documentary projects that are of mid-length and feature length. Projects under 30 minutes are currently not accepted for this edition.
  • The Co-Production Market Documentary is only eligible to projects having a producer attached and at least 15% of the financing in place.
  • Selected projects will be notified over email.
  • Project must have both director and producer attached.
  • Projects that have started principal photography are not eligible. Only the projects that are in the developing stage are eligible.

HOW TO APPLY

The application process is completely online. Email/hardcopy applications will not be accepted.

  • The applicant must either be the producer or the director of the project. Applications made by any other person will be disqualified.
  • To apply, you need to create a WavesFilmBazaar Account first, in case you do not already have one
  • Once you have created your account, you will be directed to the Co-Production Market Documentary online application form.
  • Applications will be considered complete only after payment of fee.

  • Documentary Synopsis (300 words)
  • Director’s statement (200 words)
  • Producer's Statement (200 words)
  • Director’s Bio [including Filmography] (150 words)
  • Producer’s Bio [including Filmography] (150 words)
  • Treatment Note (12-15 pages)

ADDITIONAL SUBMISSIONS
  • It is mandatory for the selected filmmakers to share video pitches of their projects for the Open Pitch at the WAVES Film Bazaar 2026.
  • To ensure the participants’ video pitches meet our technical requirements, the team will need these tentatively 2 weeks prior to WAVES Film Bazaar. Participants will be provided with creative and technical support to create refined video pitches.
  • It is also mandatory for the selected applicants to submit the Pitch Deck before the Bazaar dates, as per the deadline provided by the team.

  • Regular Deadline for applications is August 31st , 2026 (11:59 pm IST).
  • Extended Deadline for applications is September 15th , 2026 (11:59 pm IST).
FEE
  • INR 8000 for applications submitted on or before the Regular Deadline, August 31st, 2026 (11:59 PM IST).
  • INR 9000 for applications submitted on or before the Extended Deadline September 15th, 2026 (11:59 PM IST).
  • The application fee is a one-time, non-refundable fee.
